Washington, the Evergreen State, is located in the farthest Pacific Northwest region of U.S.A. Being located in the nearest distance from Asia, it has a great geographical convenience in trading with Korea. Washington State's 3 million laborforce is consistently ranked among the top five in the nation in terms of education, productivity and experience. In addition, it has an advantage of highly-advanced transportation network of both land and sea. 76 ports, 3 international airports, a number of airports for domestic airliners, well-maintained highway and railroad network enable a swift product delivery to everywhere around the nation reaching to east coast. 76 ports in Washington State are perfectly equipped with full capacity to manage containers and special freight such as timber and crops.
Washington State is renowned for its nature-friendly environment. A variety of climate and terrain accommodates almost any type of recreational activities. Seattle, the most famous city of Washington State, has been rated as the most attractive city to live in U.S.A. The magnificent tourist attractions such as Olympia National Park and Rainier Mountain are all located in Washington State. Seattle is also a home of high-technology industries such as computer software and bio-tech. Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks Coffee and Amazon have their headquarters in Washington State.
State of Washington and the Republic of Korea have been continuing the amicable relationship as trade partners for many years. On the basis of total volume of trade, Korea ranked 4th largest trade partner in 1997 and 6th largest in 1998 even under the financial crisis.
